superlative

We always say that there is "always someone worse off..." or "someone cooler than you..." or "there is always someone better..." How is that possible when there is a finite number of people here on this earth? It isn't. That leads me to think; who is the worst off? Who is the coolest? Who is the best? Who is the luckiest?

Then that leads me to think, have I ever been a superlative?
